The History

The famous COCA Suki has been a success since its commencement in 1957 by the founder Khun Srichai Phanphensophon.

From a visit to Beijing Khun Srichai was introduced to the “huoguo” style of cooking and immediately impressed. “Huoguo” translated means “flaming pan”, “flaming wok”, or “flambe” as the French call it. Its origin is believed to have come from Mongolia where the extreme cold weather forced the families to gather around a flaming wok to eat whereas in China the ingredients were boiled in an earthware pot.

Khun Srichai introduced the Chinese style of “huoguo” style of cooking to the Thai people setting his menu into smaller portions allowing customers to eat a variety of meats, poultry, fresh seafood and fresh vegetables in one meal.

Hence COCA Suki was born and the name derived from the Chinese word “Kekou” which means “appetizing” or “delicious”. Khun Srichai was a pioneer in the development of this type of restaurant and is remembered for this as all huoguo style restaurants in Thailand are called “Suki”.
