JAKARTA, INDONESIA: Mango Tree, the world’s leading Thai restaurant brand, has joined forces – and flavours – with ‘world’s greatest mixologist’ Joseph Boroski to launch the hip new Mango Tree Bistrobar Plaza Senayan with an exclusive party set to leave Jakarta shaken and stirred.

ripe – An Evening of Bistronomy and Mixology with Mango Tree Bistrobar is the theme for the launch on Friday 7th February, 2014, when a galaxy of stars will add sparkle to Plaza Senayan’s upscale dining precinct.

The brightest star will be Mango Tree Bistrobar Plaza Senayan itself, a chic and contemporary setting with a showpiece ‘long bar’ that delivers a new bistro experience from Bangkok. The restaurant also features a VIP room for up to 12, and the latest big screen AV equipment for sports and entertainment.

Guests will experience a new twist on Papaya Salad with Salted Egg adding an extra dimension, and Mango Tree’s top-five global favourite, Pomelo Salad with Shrimp. Expect the best from Bangkok’s vibrant streets: Wok-fried Beef with Holy Basil (Krapow!), Grilled Chicken with Lemongrass Served with Tamarind and Lime ‘Jim Jeaw’ Sauce, and modern twists such as Deep Fried Seabass with Mango Salsa Salad. Desserts include Durian Panna Cotta and the ever-tempting Ripe Mango with Sticky Rice.

Moving on to Mixology, Mango Tree Bistrobar favourites including Green Mango Margarita, Chili Pineapple Martini and Lemongrass Mojito are on the menu, but the highlight of the evening will be the reveal as world class Mixologist Joseph Boroski introduces his exclusive new Thai-infused cocktail sampler menu for Mango Tree.

Mr Boroski, ‘mix-sultant’ to five star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants around the world and founder of Bangkok’s BAR:School academy of mixology, has created four signature Mango Tree cocktails. ‘New twists on classics, some deep research on little known herbs and spices, and the extensive menus of the Mango Tree restaurants all played a part,” he revealed.

Mango Tree’s bespoke Boroski cocktails will remain a closely guarded secret until they are introduced at a special press preview and briefing before the party proper starts on February 7, at which point guests at the personal-invitation-only party are invited to fall under Boroski’s spell and learn what it means to Sip Slowly.

The ‘ripe’ concept will live on after the event as Mango Tree’s fresh and juicy new global events platform, fusing the best of Thai food, intelligent mixology, live music, performing and visual arts, and fresh DJ talent across its family of brands. The platform will be rolled out in various shapes and forms to broaden the brand’s appeal as it seeks to engage Mango Tree’s fast-growing customer base in new and deeper ways.

In welcoming the latest member of the Mango Tree family into the fold, the group’s CEO and founder, Chef Pitaya Phanphensophon said he was excited about the possibilities of the world’s fourth most populous nation falling head over heels in love with Thai food.

Mango Tree BistroBar Plaza Senayan co-owner Margerry Muliadi said the Plaza Senayan property’s night in the spotlight would be ‘the first of many’. “We are excited about bringing Joseph Boroski to Jakarta. Guests will be impressed by his knowledge, artistry and passion,” Ms Muliadi said. “He has caught the Mango Tree vision, distilled its essence and captured lightning in a bottle. Well, a cocktail glass.”

Mango Tree Worldwide’s Managing Director Trevor MacKenzie said the relationship with the Indonesian partners went back 20 years, with COCA Restaurants as its first venture together. One of the key shareholders was also an owner of Mango Tree London, the first Mango Tree outside Bangkok, and more recent addition Mango Tree Harrods.

Mr MacKenzie said the BistroBar brand was tailor made for Jakarta, where there was a genuine appreciation of quality cocktails and a thirst for mixology and good music, among the younger, upwardly mobile crowd.

Local stars gracing the evening’s entertainment line-up include MC Nadya Mulya, international man of mystery D’LAIDTHISNIGHT and glittering diva DJ Tiara Eve.
